Archaeological Research Associates Ltd
Ontario’s First Heritage Consulting Firm
About ARA
Established in 1972, Archaeological Research Associates Ltd. (ARA) is Ontario's oldest archaeological and heritage consulting firm. We were the first to offer expert services in all aspects of heritage resource management. Our longevity flows from the experience of our staff and our ongoing commitment to excellence and customer service.
ARA has the breadth of experience to provide a full spectrum of archaeological, heritage, education, and outreach services. We have the expertise to offer our clients the flexibility they need in addressing any range of cultural-heritage contexts.
Archaeology
Since 1972, ARA's core business has been to provide archaeological consulting services to clients across the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. As the industry has evolved in response to changes in wider Canadian society, ARA has been at the forefront of ensuring that archaeological and heritage resources are protected, and that the contributions of Descendant Communities and Stakeholders are welcome in the process. We are an inclusive company that celebrates all pasts and we are committed to a Canadian fabric whose strength derives from its diversity.
Heritage Consulting
The Heritage Team at ARA is composed of experienced staff who can provide a full range of heritage services. We are committed to being an industry leader in communicating cultural heritage value and engaging stakeholders. Our team is passionate about working with clients to identify feasible mitigation measures that conserve significant cultural heritage resources.
Education & Outreach
Every year, ARA hosts the Cultural Heritage, Archaeology, and Planning (CHAP) Symposium for our clients and friends. The purpose of the symposium is to explore relevant and timely themes in the cultural heritage, archaeological, and planning fields. The event includes presentations, panel discussions, facilitated discussions, and demonstration booths. ARA has an enduring relationship with the Archaeology and Heritage Studies Department at Wilfrid Laurier University and has several highly experienced educators on staff. ARA can provide special-topics lectures and archaeological and heritage training programs tailored to suit any context.
